Moored at the buyer's dock. The hatches on the live-tank are opened and the crew gets ready to off-load the catch.

The 'live-tank' or 'live-well'. This tank can hold a mess of lobster. Maximum capacity is about 1300 pounds. We caught only 400 pounds on this run.

Rough handling can cause the animals to drop a claw. The captain scoops out lobster from the live-tank and they are carefully transfered by hand to a tote.

The totes are then weighed by the buyer and the price calculated according to the current price per pound.

Before heading back home , more bait is put on for the next day. This time we put on seven barrels of bait which fills fourteen totes - enough to bait 560 traps. Tomorrow will be a long day.
